Everything about this restaurant ticks all the boxes, the decor, the ambience, the staff and most important of all is the standard of the food. A good selection of fish dishes are offered, cooked to perfection by the chef. This is my number one choice on the North Coast.

Perfect!

Superb. We both had the Braised Lamb Shank and it was excellent. They also serve McGuigan's wine which is our favourite. Top class food, cooked perfectly.

If you have read the Sunday Life article by Gráinne McCarry I can endorse every word that she said about the food and service etc. Tonight when I visited the Cellar with my wife Sarah our experience can best be described as brilliant. I give this establishment ten out of ten for having a menu focused on seafood (a weird rarity in this coastal province and in this town!). I love good food and find it hard to decide what to eat but I will tell you about my (and Sarah's experiences! Sarah had a mushroom starter that she loved... yum. I would have had it but the Cellar offered CRAB CLAWS and for me they were heaven. Then for mains Sarah went for a medium cooked steak which 'micarcle of micarcles' arrived as a medium and was described to me by my better half as being fantastic! As I am trying to be brief I am not detailing everything we ate but the sautéed garlic potatoes were brill, as was the house red wine that was presented for tasting and then poured in the correct proportions. (Glasses really shouldn't be over filled). We felt that the person serving our table was knowledgeably about wine and would have understood had we returned the wine for a legitimate reason. For my main I went for the 'Rathlin surf'n turf' with the steak cooked 'BLUE'. The lobster in this was beautiful, the bed of veg it was set on was appropriate and delicious but,the steak. Yes, the steak - amazing - the Cellar is somewhere that really knows how to 'cook' a blue steak! The waitress didn't do the usual 'WHAAA' when asked for a 'blue' and when it arrived it was a blue 10 out of 10, melt in your mouth steak. We're not 'Desert' people so Sarah had a Bailey's and I had a Jamison and there was no pressure to take a 'sweet' instead. Over all, Ten out of ten. Well done. Marino
